Position Opening: Seafood Market Manager

The Seafood Market Manager assists the GM with overseeing market operations. He or she is responsible for creating a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for all guests. To accomplish this, incumbent must assist in hiring and training dedicated staff, monitor food production for quality, and ensure guests receive outstanding customer service. On a daily basis, he or she will track inventory, order more supplies when necessary, and oversee all financial transactions for accuracy. An ideal candidate has at least one year of market management experience and a history of successful operations. The Market Manager as well as the GM are responsible for the physical upkeep and all facility maintenance of the building.

 Manager Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting GM to oversee day-to-day business operations of the market
  • Maintain the facilities of the market to produce high quality food at the lowest possible cost
  • Contract for and follow up general maintenance and repair to the building as directed by the GM
  • Monitor budget, payroll records, and review financial transactions to ensure expenditures are authorized and budgeted
  • Keep records required by government agencies regarding sanitation and other regulatory matters, as directed by the GM
  • Ensure patrons have a welcoming and satisfying visit
  • Politely upsell food products and merchandise
  • Monitor food production and check for taste and quality
  • Track inventory and order supplies when necessary
  • Assist the GM to Hire and train qualified staff
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide additional coaching and support as needed
  • Manage profit and loss statements and account for costs and revenues

Market Manager Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree a plus
  • 1 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, including time in a managerial role if possible, we are willing to train
  • Valid food handler’s certificate
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Flexible schedule, 5 days per week 45-50 hours
